Meet Our Friendly Staff!

Dr. Barbara Jameson

Veterinarian - BSc, BVMS (1st Class Hons), MANZCVS (Small Animal Medicine), PG Cert (Small Animal Practice), MVS (Small Animal Practice)

Barbara is one of our full-time veterinarians and practice super-intendant who graduated with 1st class honours in 2008 and won the University Medal for being the most outstanding student in her year. Barbara has a Masters degree in Small Animal Practice through Murdoch University and after completing her Memberships exams in Small Animal Medicine in 2012, she was awarded the Membership Medal for topping her year. Throughout her time in general practice and at a busy emergency hospital, Barbara has gained extensive experience managing a variety of medical and surgical cases.

Barbara combines her dedication to the welfare of animals with her wealth of knowledge to provide fantastic care to her patients. Her special passion is treating animals with hormonal conditions, infectious diseases, cancer and especially our feline friends. Barbara surrounds herself with animals at work and at home owning 2 dogs: Jackson the Jack Russell and Jazz the toy poodle, as well as 4 cats: Furrbee the Persian, Indi and Deeks the Birmans and Red the Burmese.

Dr. Jenna Baker 

Veterinarian - BVSc

Jenna is one of our full-time veterinarians having joined our team in mid 2019. Jenna graduated from UNSW in 2017 and in her time has gained a great deal of experience working in a practice on the North-Shore before joining us. 

Jenna has a keen interest in all areas of veterinary medicine but mainly surgery, internal medicine and behaviour. Her volunteer work led her to Thailand where she assisted with medical procedures and research at an elephant refuge and a dog rescue organisation. Jenna's passion for animal welfare and providing a high level of patient care is a valuable asset to our team. 

Jenna's home is run by her lovely Greyhound called Percy.



Dr. Janet Nguyen

Veterinarian - BVSc

Janet is one of our full-time veterinarians providing a high standard of patient care. Janet joined the team in mid 2019 after gaining experience doing not one, but two specialist internships providing her with extensive medical knowledge from some of the top small animal specialists in Australia. Her keen interest and knowledge of medical cases ensures our patients get the top care.

Janet owns a beautiful Japanese Spitz called Yuki and definately has a soft spot for the breed ensuring she see's any that come for consults!  

Dr. Natasha Harrison

Veterinarian - BVSc

Natasha is one of our Part-Time veterinarians, and has over 10 years experience working in Australia and the UK. Natasha is a skilled surgeon especially when dealing with soft-tissue surgeries making even the largest of excisions look wonderful!

She is interested in all aspects of medicine especially Auto-Immune Diseases having had a first hand experience with her own pet. Natasha is a very caring and compassionate person who loves getting to know our clients and their furry companions.

When not at work, Natasha has a full house caring for her three beautiful boys, Sabi the Golden Retriever and Yoda the British Bulldog, as well as three Domestic Shorthairs: Jack, Emily and Santa Paws

Dr. Whitney Ong

Veterinarian - BVSc

Whitney graduated the University of Sydney in 2016. Whitney has had a colourful past, having been a Dolphin trainer in hawaii for a couple of years before deciding to study Veterinary Science in Australia (how many people can say that?). Since graduating, she has gained vast experience from working in a busy vet clinic in sydneys west before joining the acacia team as one of our full-time veterinarians. Whitney has a keen interest in medicine and her kind, friendly nature has been a great asset to the clinic.

Whitney has recently adopted a Border Collie X named Kona!

Dr. Peter MacKenzie-Wood

Practice Owner - BVSc

Peter is one of the Practice Partners. Peter has over 20 years experience and has completed a post graduate course in Surgery. Peter is a very keen surgeon and enjoys the challenge Acacia Gardens throws at him with orthopaedic cases (broken bones, knee reconstructions) and soft tissue surgeries (such as removing cancers). Peter's main role is as a senior consultant and orthopaedic surgeon, working with more challenging medical and surgical cases.

On a personal level, he is a keen sportsman with rugby and swimming being his main interests and still participates in the odd charity bike riding event.

Dr. Gwilym Hunt

Practice Owner - BVSc, MACVSc (Surgery)

Gwilym is one of the practice partners and is a member of the Australian College of Veterinary Surgeons Surgical Chapter. He is responsible for the overall quality of surgical care at the practice.

On his weekends away Gwilym enjoys Kite Surfing and spending time with his family. Gwilym owns a very exuberant Staffy, Zanzi, a cat called Cous Puss, 2 turtles Noodle and Larry and an aviary full of exotic birds.



Clare Tolkien

Veterinary Nurse - Veterinary Nursing Cert. IV

Clare joined the team in 2008 and completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in  2010. She is currently working full-time as our Head Veterinary Nurse looking after the day to day running of the clinic whilst also studying Medical Science at university. She is very caring and compassionate to our furry friends and has a particular interest in emergency and critical care nursing.

Clare's furry family consists of 2 cats: Oliver and Louie whom she adopted from the clinic and a horse called Nikki.


Kristie Borg

Veterinary Nurse - Veterinary Nursing Cert. IV, Diploma of Veterinary Nursing (General Practice)

Kristie joined the team mid 2018 and has recently completed her Diploma of Veterinary Nursing. Having almost 10 years of nursing experience under her belt, she has worked in many different clinics including most recently, as a nurse at the Animal Referral Hospital looking after critical patients and those in for specialist procedures. Kristie started out here doing work placement as she completed her Veterinary Nursing Certificate so it's nice to see that she has made her way back to us over all these years. Kristie loves all aspects of nursing, she takes great care of our hospitalised patients and makes sure they each get her undivided attention.
Kristie's home is run by her cute chihuahua Pepe (who she actually adopted from us whilst completing work experience all those years ago!), Dash the Dachshound and a DSH called Milky.

Riani Simpson

Veterinary Nurse - Veterinary Nursing Cert. IV

Riani joined the team in 2018 whilst she completed her nursing certificate. Riani worked in child care for 4 years before finding her calling with animals and she couldn't be happier doing what she loves. Riani has been an excellent addition to our team showing great interest in all aspects of veterinary nursing. Her caring and compassionate nature is shown in her work as she takes excellent care of her patients who are in hospital whether they be recovering after a big surgery or just boarding for the day.

Riani owns 3 dogs: a sweet little maltese x shih tzu called Coco, a maltese x jack jussell named Bella and a fox terrier x whippet called Rocky as well as 2 DSH: Mia and Catriona.

Isabelle Green

Veterinary Nurse - Veterinary Nursing Cert. IV

Belle joined our team mid 2015, after completing work experience with us. Belle has shown a strong interest in our medicine cases looking after our critical, post surgical and neonatal patients with excellent care. Her eagerness to learn and compassionate nature has made her a great addition to our nursing team.

Belle's household is ruled by her 2 cats Sally and Mo a three legged adoptee.

Maddison Shepheard

Veterinary Nurse - Veterinary Nursing Cert. IV

Maddison joined the nursing team in 2015 after moving all the way from Bathurst to study Animal Science at Western University. Due to studying full time, you will normally catch her on our busy weekends. Having worked in a rural vet, she has had experience with all animals great and small and her hard working, caring nature has been a fantastic asset to the team. Maddison has a keen interest in pocket pets! yes, we have a bunny fan in the house.

Maddison owns 4 rabbits and has recently got into showing and breeding.

Josephine Hope

Veterinary Nurse - Veterinary Nursing Cert IV

Josie started with us in Oct 2016 with over six years of vet nursing under her belt. Josie has a special interest in our pocket pet patients and takes great care of them whilst they are in hospital. Josie has also been keeping busy studying massage therapy with a goal to get into animal massage as well as people. 

Josie’s animal family includes 2 dogs: Buddy and Shiela; 5 cats: Tabitha, Piggie, Maxi, Gingy, and Mini G and a snake called Chocolate. 


Melissa Newman

Veterinary Nurse

Mel joined our nursing team mid 2018 and currently divides her time between clinics whilst also studying at university. Mel is very compassionate to our furry friends and ensures everyone is well looked after during their stay. 

Mel is an avid horse rider, on her days off she enjoys Jumping and Eventing with her horse Charlie. She has a full house with a toy poodle named Lexi, Zelda the German Shepherd, Link a Great Dane X and Navi a Golden Retriever.

Paige Gordon

Veterinary Nurse - Veterinary Nursing Cert. IV

Paige joined the team after completing work experience with us in 2016 and works full-time ensuring our patients are comfortable and get the attention they need. Paige enjoys all aspects of nursing, especially dentals and has a soft-spot for our golden oldies in hospital (they are always found wrapped up nice and cosy in a blanket)

Paige owns a Bull Terrier X called Koby and a DSH called Cora, both who she adopted from the clinic.

Claire Read

Veterinary Nurse - Veterinary Nursing Cert. IV

Claire joined our nursing team in 2020 whilst completing her Veterinary Nursing certificate with the clinic. Claire works part-time with us whilst also working at Sydney Wildlife getting the best of both worlds working with companion and captive animals. Claire's love of all animals is apparent, she takes care of both our native wildlife and our clients furry family members with kindness and compassion. 

Claire has an array of animals at home, consisting of a bearded dragon and DSH called Snooty, both of whom she adopted from the clinic, Buddy the Labrador and Stew the rabbit.

Kayla Wilson

Veterinary Nurse - Veterinary Nursing Cert. IV

Kayla joined the team mid 2020 after having completed her Veterinary Nursing certificate. Kayla shows a great interest in all aspects of nursing but has a special place in her heart for dentals. Her kind and caring nature is a great asset to the clinic, ensuring our patients are well looked after.   

Kayla's home is run by her 5 cats and horse. 

Sheree Howlett

Veterinary Receptionist

Sheree joined the team in 2017 as one of our dedicated receptionists. Years of experience managing a busy pet shop has armed her with the knowledge to help our clients in the day to day pet care of their furry family members and is happy to help with any querys you might have. Sheree is interested in all areas of the veterinary industry and is currently also running a few of our Puppy Pre-school classes whilst studying for her Veterinary Nursing Certificate.

Sheree owns a bouncy young Rottweiler named Kenzi who has been a life saving blood donor on a few occasions. Isn't she awesome!

Sarah-Jane Dimech

Veterinary Nurse - Veterinary Nursing Cert. IV

Sarah joined our team in 2015 and in 2017 left to take on a new role teaching the next generation of veterinary nurse students. This year we have seen Sarah return to work part time in the clinic as she missed clinic practice too much, really she just missed us..

Sarahs home is run by her DMH Ally, a Devon Rex called Luna and an array of wildlife she rehabilitates.
